[Popups] What's new: the popup no longer closes, it minimizes

July 2026

🔔 Until now, when a visitor closed your popup that was the end of it — there was no way for them to open it again. With the trigger, a floating button stays on your store, so someone who closed in a hurry can still subscribe later, whenever they want. It's now available on spin the wheel, reveal coupon and opt-in.

Closing no longer means losing them

Before, a visitor who hit the X was locked out of the coupon for good. Now the popup doesn't close: it minimizes into a discreet button in a corner.

  • The visitor browses freely, with nothing covering your store.

  • When they're ready, they tap the button and the popup opens again.

  • They open it, on their terms — you're not interrupting them.

Pick how it looks

There are 5 styles, and you see them in the live preview as you set them up:

  • Button — icon + text, the classic.

  • Bubble — a circle with just the icon, the most discreet one.

  • Tab — stuck to the bottom edge.

  • Card — with a title and a secondary line, to explain the offer better.

  • Spinning wheel — the wheel spins on its own to draw attention.

You also choose the position (bottom right, bottom left or bottom center), the size, the icon (gift, coupon, discount and more), the colors, and whether you want a pulse animation so it stands out.

It doesn't fight with your max impressions

This one matters and it's easy to mix up: max impressions still does exactly what it always did — stop the popup from opening on its own. The trigger doesn't count toward it.

In plain terms: if your cap is 1, the popup opens by itself once. After that the button stays, and it only opens again if the visitor taps it. You're not being pushy.

Once they subscribe, it goes away on its own

As soon as the person leaves their email, the trigger disappears and the coupon bar with the code takes over. They never overlap.

Important if you already have popups running

The trigger starts off on every popup. Nothing you already have running changes until you turn it on yourself.

If you use scratch and win, which already had a trigger, there is one change: the button used to disappear after a few opens, and now it stays until the person subscribes, just like everywhere else.

To set it up, go to Popups → your popup → Trigger and flip the switch.
